HAMPTON – Olga Hellman Chisman, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, after a long illness.

Born in Phoebus, she was a lifelong Hampton resident, where she was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Mrs. Chisman retired from the Payroll Department at Fort Monroe in 1970 after 27 years of Civil Service. She was active in her church, having been a choir member, treasurer of Women of Emmanuel Church from 1951 until 1966 and a member of Bryan Circle and the Altar Guild.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Edith J. Hellman and Edith F. Hellman, both of Hampton.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Rev. Richard L. Vinson. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 179 E.
