QUEEN CARTER

DENDRON – Queen Carter, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, in John Randolph Hospital, Hopewell.

She was a lifelong Surry County resident and a member of First Baptist Church of Dendron.

Survivors include one daughter, Daisy Mae Holmes of Newport News; six sons, Jesse Chappel of Baltimore, Nathaniel Brown of Waverly, Will Brown Jr. of Philadelphia, John Carter Jr. of Dendron, Allen Brown, and Waverly Brown both of Newport News; and 34 grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Dendron by the Rev. Curtis Edmonds Sr. Burial will follow in Carter family cemetery. The body will be placed in church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Family and friends will assemble at the residence of Ada Thompson, Elberon Heights, by 1:15 p.m. Saturday.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Peace Funeral Home, Wavery.
