RICHARD ‘KITCHIE’ CARTER COWLES
Richard ‘Kitchie’ Carter Cowles, 80, of Lanexa, passed away Sept. 22, 2008.
Kitchie graduated from Toano High School in 1945 and attended the University of Virginia and Hampden-Sydney College. Kitchie spent most of his life in various types of work in the construction business. He spent his last 20 years traveling. He took 25 sea cruises, traveled to Europe and took many road trips across the United States. During the last 20 years he has also enjoyed his mornings at Patsy*s Diner in Lanexa. He spent time at Patsy*s with the company of his many extraordinary new and old friends. Kitchie*s lunchtime hours were spent with friends at the Williamsburg Outlet Mall in Lightfoot, Va.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betty Cowles; his son, Richard and his wife, Anne; his daughter, Malinda Morse and her husband, Steve; three grandchildren, Joel, Sam and Jennifer Morse. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Polly Paws.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Va., and will be followed by a reception at Wallace Manor, 3821 N. Courthouse Road (Rt. 155), Providence Forge, from 2:30 to 5 p.m.
