Richard Watts Dead
Richard Watts, for many years the janitor at the Bank of Hampton and the First National Bank, died in Petersburg Tuesday night. He was a faithful colored man and was held in high esteem by the bank officers. Watts was 61 years old. He entered the services of Schmel Brothers, and went to the Bank of Hampton when the consolidation took place between the two banks here. Watts became insane about six weeks ago and was sent to Petersburg. Funeral services will be held from the First Colored Baptist Church in North King Street this afternoon at 4 o’clock. He was a member of Excelsior Lodge of Elks, which will attend the funeral.
