RICHETTA WHITE CHAMBLEE
Richetta White Chamblee, 89, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Hampton Sentara Careplex Hospital.
She was born to the late James and Rebecca White in Warwick County (Newport News), Va., on Dec. 8, 1917. Richetta was baptized at an early age, and was a faithful member of First Baptist ChurchMorrison, Newport News, Va., until her death.
Richetta loved working with young children, and served as a dedicated teachers assistant with the Peninsula Foster Grandparent Program for well over 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rebecca White; one sister, Lucille Venable; seven brothers, Haywood Royal, Jacob Royal, John Wesley Royal, Nathaniel Royal, Randolph Royal, Robert Lee Royal and Sylvester Royal.
Left to cherish precious memories are her devoted and loving son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Leon White Sr. and Marylin Sinclair-White of Hampton, Va.; three sisters, Celestine Payne (Samuel) of Hampton, Va., Elaine Taylor and Juanita Lomax both of Newport News, Va.; two brothers, Benjamin Royal of Hampton, Va., and Russell Royal of Smithfield, Va.; two grandchildren, Ramanda Thompson and Bobby L. White, Jr. of Hampton, Va.; a special grandson and granddaughter, Norman T. Overton and Faynetta Anderson, and a host of nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at First Baptist Church Morrison, 12720 Patrick Henry Drive, Newport News, with Rev. Dr. Marcellus L. Harris, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow services in the First Baptist Church MorrisonCemetery. The family will assemble by noon at the residence of 22 Gunter Court, Hampton, prior to the funeral service.
