Robert H. Crist
Robert H. Crist, 40, of 209 Algonquin Rd., Hampton, died at the Kecoughtan Veterans Administration Ctr. hospital at 4:05 PM yesterday, one hour after he had been admitted.
A native of Kansas City, MO, he came to Hampton 10 years ago with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter C. Crist. He was employed in a supervisory capacity at Langley Air Force Base.
Crist served in the Marine Corps’s for six years prior to World War II. He was aboard the USS Oklahoma at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He left the Marines in 1942 to enter pilot training with the US Army air corps. Crist served in the China – Burma – India theater and was discharge from the Air Force in 1947.
Among his awards are the distinguished flying Cross, the air medal and a presidential unit citation.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, William O. Crist of Stratfford, MO, and Richard K. Crist of Newport News.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

A funeral mass will be offered at 10:30 AM today for Robert H. Crist, 40, of 209 Algonquin Rd., by the Rev. Mr. Thomas F. O’Connor in the Catholic Chapel at Kecoughtan Veterans Administration Ctr.
Mr. Crist died early Monday at the veteran center.
Pallbearers will be Lieut. Col. W. R. Maher, Capt. J. M. Bartlett, Capt. D. J. Sheffel, 1st Lt. R. L. Owens, T/Sgt. R. Corbett, S/Sgt. T. Zak, Airman 1/c R. Sheldon and Joseph Cross.
Burial will be in National Cemetery.
A veteran of the Marine Corps and Army Air Corps with 11 years service, Crist came to Hampton 10 years ago with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hunter C. Crist. He was employed in a supervisory position at Langley Air Force Base.
