LACKEY — Robert E. Lee Whitby, 18-year-old son of Mrs. Rosa Lee Whitby of Box 243, Lackey, drowned Sunday in the York River.

Other survivors include six brothers, Lee Ernest Whitby, Arthur Alphonzo Whitby, John Henry Whitby, Richard Eugene Whitby and Donald Anthony Whitby of Lackey and Mack Junior Whitby with the U. S. Army, Fort Benning, Ga.; seven sisters, Miss Shirley Whitby, Miss Leola Whitby, Miss Kathy Whitby, Miss Beatrice Whitby, Miss Annie Mae Whitby, Miss Dixie Lee Whitby and Miss Delores Whitby of Lackey; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Annie Whitby of Lackey.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Whiting and Tabb Funeral Home.

LACKEY — A funeral service for Robert E. Lee Whitby, 18-year-old son of Mrs. Rosa Lee Whitby of Box 243, Lackey, who drowned Sunday in the York River, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Morning Star Baptist Church, James City County, by the Rev. M. I. Jefferson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
