ROBERT B. WHITTINGTON

HAMPTON – Robert B. “Bob” Whittington, 67, died Monday, May 8, 1989 at his home.

A native of Asheville, N.C., he had been a Peninsula resident for many years.

He retired as owner of Hampton Roads Battery Inc.

He was a member of Emman uel Episcopal Church of Hampton and also an usher and former vestry member of the church. He was a member of Hampton Civitan Club and a Marine Corp veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia W. Gary of Hampton; two sons, Richard A. Whittington and Joseph M. Whittington, both of Hampton; and six grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church by the Rev. Howard W. Saunders III. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Memorial Fund of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 179 E. Mercury Boulevard, Hampton, 23669.
