ROBERT S. WRIGHT

POQUOSON – Robert Sinclair Wright, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997 in Norfolk. He was a Poquoson resident for 60 years.

He began his career at Newport News Shipyard and retired from NASA as a technician in 1967. He continued to work after his retirement with the Poquoson School System for five years in the Maintenance Department.

He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and its Sunday school secretary for over 42 years. He was also a member of Kecoughtan Masonic Lodge No. 49, A.F. & A.M., and the Poquoson Masonic Lodge No. 47, A.F. & A.M., and received his 50-year certificate in 1996. He was known as an avid walker.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Graham Wright Sr., and grandchildren, Thomas Clay Wright and Natalie Jean Talcott.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Phillips Wright; one son, Richard Clay Wright of Mollusk; one daughter, Nancy Wright Talcott of Poquoson; one brother, Rev. William Wiatt Wright Sr. of Richmond; two sisters, Mary Palmer ”Dolly” Pond of Westminster, Md., and Margaret Sinclair Odell of Norfolk; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Nov. 30 at Emmaus Baptist Church by Dr. Irvin Acree and Rev. William Wiatt Wright Sr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Nov. 29 at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home.

After funeral services the family will receive friends at 860 Yorktown Road. Memorials may be made to Poquoson Library Furniture Fund; Emmaus Baptist Church; or Edmarc Hospice for Children, P.O. Box 11355, Norfolk 23517-1355.
