WAKEFIELD – Roger Nichols Jr., 61, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, in Washington Adventist Hospital, Tacoma, Md.

A native of Westfield, N.J., he was a resident of South Hampton County for most of his life. He was retired as a maintenance manager for Montgomery School System and Aldon Management in Maryland.

He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ivor.

Survivors include his wife, Lynease J. Nichols; two daughters, Shirley Nichols Burwell of Silver Spring, Md. and Judy N. Putman of Upper Marlboro, Md.; one son, Roy Roger Nichols of Ceithesburg, Md.; one adopted son, Robert E. Burell Sr. of Silver Spring; seven sisters, Louis Hicks, Mrs. Maurice Colbert, Adelle Nichols, Alice N. Johnson, Sarah Green, Nellie Johnson, and Susan Nichols; and five grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Nathaniel Gomillion. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body may be viewed at noon Saturday at the church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Family and friends will assemble at noon Saturday at the residence on Pine St., Wakefield.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Renal Dialysis Center, Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.
