RUFUS L. CLARK

HAMPTON – Rufus “Toots” Linwood Clark, 60, died Saturday, Jan. 7, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital.

A native of Mathews County, he was a Peninsula resident for 40 years.

He retired from Newport News Shipbuilding after 27 years.

He was a member of Third Baptist Church and Excelsior Mizpah Lodge No. 4.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Clark; two daughters, Neva L. Clark, and Valerie E. Swan, both of Hampton; two brothers, Charles H. Clark Sr. of Cardinal and Frank Lee of North; and five grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Third Baptist Church by the Rev. John Smith. Burial will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in church at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Family and friends will assemble at 322 Elm Ave., Hampton, by 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 7 tonight at Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home.
