SARAH E. COOKE

HAMPTON – Sarah E. Cooke died Sunday, Jan. 1, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of Hampton and a member of West End Baptist Church.

She retired as a maid from the Warwick Hotel and was a volunteer for Hampton Day Care Center.

Survivors include one son, Charles H. Cooke of Newport News; four sisters, Mary Hill of Newport News, Edith Stephens, Thelma Stowes, and Dorothy Branch, all of Hampton; one brother, Frederick Cooke of Hampton; and two grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Hollie Richardson. Burial will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Friday. Family and friends will assemble at 215 Marcella Road, Hampton, by noon Friday.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Smith Bros. Funeral Home.

HAMPTON – A funeral for Sarah E. Cooke, who died Sunday, Jan. 1, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Hollie Richardson. Burial will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Friday. Family and friends will assemble at 432 Colonial Ave., by noon Friday.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight in Smith Bros. Funeral Home.
