TED MURL WALKER
Ted Murl Walker, 79, of Newport News, went home to be with his Lord on Dec. 23, 2005, on what would’ve been his 55th wedding anniversary.
He was a retired electrical designer, having worked at the Newport News and Tampa shipyards. Mr. Walker was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton, and had previously been an active member of Deer Park and Stevens Memorial churches in Newport News and West Shore Baptist Church in Tampa.
Born in Erwin, Tenn., he was the son of the late Herschel Robert Walker and Georgie Gouge Walker. Mr. Walker was a Navy veteran and served his country during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Keller Walker, and his twin brother, Fred Burl Walker.
He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Walker Blume and her husband, Allan, of Boone, N.C.; Patti Walker of Newport News; one son, Kevin Walker and his wife, Teresa, of Gloucester; one sister, Marjorie Walker Eledge, and her husband, Ashley, of Austin, Texas; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Paul P. Keller and his wife, Mildred, June Bright and her husband, E.B. (Herb) Bright, Harry W. Keller and his wife, Jackie, all of Newport News, and Douglas Keller and his wife, Sandra, of Virginia Beach. Mr. Walker is also survived by five beloved grandchildren, Jeremy Blume and his fiancee, Nicole Carpenter, of Atlanta; Jonathan, Matthew, Ian and Sarah Walker, all of Gloucester; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at Liberty Baptist Church, Hampton, officiated by Mr. Walker’s son-in-law, the Rev. Allan Blume, followed by a graveside service in Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church for its building fund, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23666.
