W. J. Colby

Wenham J. Colby, 66, 35 Hertzler Road, Newport News, died Saturday in Hampton General Hospital.

A native of North Tonawanda, NY, he had been a Peninsula resident for the past 30 years. He was a retired owner and operator of Cavalier Aviation at Patrick Henry International Airport, and late, the Gloucester Flying Service. He was a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Alice Taylor Colby; and a sister, Miss Elizabeth Colby of West Chester, PA.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 pm Monday in Peninsula Funeral Home by the Rev. Douglas G. Burgoyne of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

The family is at the residence and requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Virginia Lunch Association or to St. Andrew’s Church.
