William Newton ‘Billy’ Conner Jr., 52, died Saturday, May 28, 2011.

Born in Nelsonville, Ohio, he moved to Hampton in 1962 graduating from Kecoughtan High School in 1976. Billy began working as a welder at the Newport News Shipyard in 1976, working night shift while still a high school senior and was currently a welding supervisor. He was a member of Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church and loved to fish, hunt and work on cars.

Billy is survived by his wife, Kimberly Wallace Conner; sons, Josh, Jake and Jared; mother, Peggy Joyner Conner; brothers, Mark Conner and Michael Conner; sister, Kim Barr; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, William N. Conner Sr.; and a sister, Christy Conner.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Wayne C. Moore with interment in Clark Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from noon to 1:45 p.m. at the church.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church, The Clark Cemetery Association, or the Billy Conner Memorial Fund, c/o Jodie Powell 800 Beach Rd., Hampton, VA 23664.
