NEWPORT NEWS – William H. Cooper, 77, died on Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Riverside Regional Medical Center. He retired from Fort Eustis after years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Perallea M. Cooper, and his daughter, Dennise Cooper.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Darcel and Joseph Singleton Jr.; eight grandchildren, Antonio, Michael, Taneque, and Natosha Singleton, and Marcus, Latisha, Derrick and Shawn Cooper; two great-grandchildren, Naquian Cooper and Shaquntell Harris; four nephews, William Henry Boyd of Maryland, Pastor James Cooper of Michigan, Morris Cooper of Pine Tops, N.C., and Ret. Sgt. 1st Class Claude Cooper of Fort Polk, La.; two nieces, Brilliant Cooper of Newport News and Willye M. Dawkins of Smithfield; and a host of great-nieces, -nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday, April 1, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Robert Samuels. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. Family and friends are to assemble at 106 Arden Drive by 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
