WILLIAM MCLEAN CUMMING

William “Billy” McLean Cumming, 93, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2002. Billy was a native and lifelong Hampton resident, the son of the late James McPherson and Grace Darling Cumming.

Billy was a graduate of Hampton High School and graduated from VMI. He was a longtime contractor in the Tidewater area and was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Billy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgiana Sinclair Cumming; his daughters: Grace Long and her husband, Ed, of Gloucester, VA, Carolyn Seals and her husband, Ken, of Edenton, NC, Frances Klovstad and her husband, Don, of Hampton, and Molly Cumming of Nashville, TN; his son: Will Cumming and his wife, Becky Ballard Cumming, of Onancock, VA; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, July 12, in St. John’s Episcopal Church Cemetery, with the Rev. James “Skip” Hutton officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Wythe Volunteer Rescue Squad, 1430 Kecoughtan Road, Hampton, 23661.

Arrangements are in the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Avenue, Hampton.
