Wilmer Mahone, 73 years old, of 818 Twenty-fourth street, died at the Riverside hospital at 9:30 o’clock last night after an illness of three weeks. Death followed a complication of diseases.
Mr. Mahone, who was engaged in the coal and wood business for many years, had made his home in Newport News since 1905. He was a member of the Thirtieth Street Christian church.
He leaves five children, a son, L. B. Mahone, of this city, and four daughters, Mrs. Frank Nelson and Mrs. John F. Bray, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. William Rudasill, of Rapidan; and Miss Eva B. Mahone, of New York. Three granddaughters, and six nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held from the 30th Street Christian church Sunday afternoon. The hour has not been fixed and will be announced later. The Rev. J.D. Kitchin, Jr., pastor, will be in charge.
