W. R. Chapman Broker, dies in Gloucester
Gloucester – Woodford R. Chapman, 64, a Gloucester County real estate and insurance broker, died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home here.
He was one of the organizers of the Williamsburg National Bank and was a member of its board of directors.
A member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gloucester, he was also a member of the board of directors and a vice president of the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Gloucester Lions Club, Abingdon Ruritan Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
He was a past master of Botetourt Masonic Lodge No. 7, a 32nd degree Mason of the Richmond Scottish Rite and a member of Acca Shrine Temple.
Mr. Chapman is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julia Foster Chapman of Gloucester; a daughter, Mrs. Via of Saluda; a son, Thomas Chapman of Gloucester; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Grinels of Gloucester and Mrs. Dorothy Kane of Norfolk; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church here. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
the body will be moved from the Hogg Funeral Home to the church at 1 pm.
