JOHN H. BARFOOT
HAMPTON – John H. Barfoot, 76, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital.
A native of Richmond, Mr. Barfoot was a Peninsula resident for 61 years. He retired as machine shop supervisor at Newport News Shipbuilding in 1977 after 48 years.
Mr. Barfoot was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hampton.
Survivors include two sons, R. Wayne Barfoot of Hampton and Larry K. Barfoot of York County; one sister, Katie Cline of Richmond; and six grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home chapel by Dr. Michael Browder. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at other times at 501 Gold Cup Road, Hampton.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 618-C J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News 23601.
