LEILA VADEN BAILEY
HAMPTON – Leila Vaden Bailey, 84, died Sunday, April 15, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Bailey had been a Peninsula resident since 1938. She was a registered nurse from 1927 until 1940 and then was a real estate broker until 1955 with Edson Reality Company.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of Hampton Roads Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Newport News Women’s Club. She was the founder of the Langley Kennel Club and worked with the American Red Cross during World War II.
Survivors include her husband, James P. Bailey; a son, James P. Bailey II of Sterling; a brother, Homer W. Vaden of Nashville; and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home by the Rev. R. Bruce Warrington. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
