MABEL K. BALLARD

HAMPTON – Mabel Keirn Ballard, 92, died Monday, June 10, in Sentara Hampton General Hospital.

Ms. Ballard was a native of Cass, W.Va., and a Peninsula resident for 50 years.

She was formerly employed by the Old Dixie Hospital food services. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Women’s Society of Christian Service. She was also a member of the Colonial CHapter No. 40, Order of the Eastern Star, the Golden Age Group, R.S.V.P., and the Order of Rebecca in West Virginia.

Survivors include a daughter, Natalie B. Bell of Hampton; two sons, Thomas K. Ballard of Hampton and Gary K. Ballard of Poquoson; two sisters, Mina K. Mason and Thelma K. Melson, both of Hampton; a brother, Ralph Keirn of Hampton; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Kenneth W. Newsome. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 tonight in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. At other times they will be at 720 Macon Road.
