Funeral of Miss Wood
The funeral services of the late Miss Mattie Wood took place at 3:30pm Sunday from her late residence in the eastern portion of the city and were attended by a large gathering of relatives and friends of the family, which is one of the most prominent on the Peninsula. Among those present were a number from Norfolk and other points outside the city. The services were conducted by the Rev. A. B. Woodfin, D. D., pastor of the Baptist church, of which deceased was a consistent member. The services at the home concluded, the remains were borne to the cemetery of old St. John’s church and there interred. The pallbearers were chosen from the male relatives of the deceased, a custom carried out at the recent funeral of a brother of the deceased.
