MILDRED ANNE CARROLL
Mildred Anne Carroll, 83, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002. She was born in Nash County, N.C. She retired from the Hampton Sheriff’s Department as the First City Matron of the Sheriff’s Department. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, the former Sheriff of Hampton. She is survived by her niece and husband, Mrs. Mildred L. and Ed Brantley of Chesapeake; her three great nieces and husbands, Janice and Rob Harrell of Chesapeake, Becky and Phill Wood of Chesapeake, and Sandy and Ricky Witherspoon of Richmond; four great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. A funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home Downtown Hampton by the Rev. Carlton Shrieves. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. A visitation was held Sunday evening at the funeral home. The family wishes any expressions of sympathy to take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 20 Interstate Corporate Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, VA 23502.
