EARL HERRING

NEWPORT NEWS – Earl Herring, 68, died Tuesday, March 6, in his home.

Mr. Herring was a native of Duplin County, N.C. and a Peninsula resident for 45 years. He retired in 1986 from Newport News Shipbuilding as a ship fitter after 30 years. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Warren of Poquoson; two sons, Gary Herring of Newport News and Dennis Herring of Hampton; two sisters, Kate Hill of Mt. Olive, N.C., and Thelma Dale of Goldsboro, N.C.; a brother, Cecil Herring of Spring Lake, N.C.; and six grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Tag Kilgore at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in Peninsula Funeral Home.
