NATHAN JORDAN

NEWPORT NEWS – Nathan Jordan died on April 30, 1998, at Sentara Hampton General Hospital. He was a native of Jackson, N.C.

He retired as a chipper and caulker from the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, after 30 years of employment.

He was a member of Knights of Pythias Star of East No. 58 and Newport News Shipyard retired men’s club. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, where he served on the Gleaner Board.

He is survived by his wife, Bettie B. Jordan; one daughter, Anita Faye Jordan Williams of Norfolk; one grandson, CPL Lamont Jordan of Fort Royal, S.C.; one sister, Eva Balmer Edwards of Virginia Beach; and a host of relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Gethsemane Baptist Church by the Rev. Dwight Riddick. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Monday, May 4, from noon to 7 p.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.
