R. S. Turnbull died here last night

Insurance man succumbed to attack of meningitis, was member several lodges.

Robert S. Turnbull, Jr., one of the best known insurance men in Hampton, died last night at 9 o’clock in his home in Columbia Avenue following an illness of two weeks with meningitis. Mr. Turnbull had for many years been connected with the Home Beneficial Insurance Company and was a most successful man in his business, having the local field and also the work at Cape Charles. He was the son of the late Robert S. Turnbull, Sr., and was born and reared in this city. He attended the local public schools and after leaving school entered the insurance business.

Mr. Turnbull was a young man of exemplary habits, a fine companion and a loveable friend to those he knew. He had scores of friends over the Peninsula and at Cape Charles. He was a member of St. Tammany Lodge, No. 5.A.F.& A.M; Hampton Lodge No. 366, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Live Oak Camp No. 21, Woodmen of the World and Hampton Aerie No. 674, Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Mr. Turnbull is survived by his widow, who was Miss Dorsey, of East Hampton; two sons and a daughter, Robert Gordon, Carter Watkins and Bettie Anne Turnbull, his mother, Mrs. Minnie Turnbull and four sisters, Mrs. Payne Parker, Mrs. May Eubank, Mrs. Frank Custer and Miss Virginia Turnbull.

Arrangements for the funeral services had not be completed last night.
